The Chili Cook-Off is a family-friendly event held annually in Puerto Vallarta for the past 10 years. It is hosted by the non-profit organization The Jay Sadler Project A.C. All revenues from the Cook-Off go to help fund the non-profit and their work in the under-served communities of the greater Bay of Banderas area.

The Cook-Off features all-day entertainment from local bands as well as many food and beverage vendors. In addition, some 25 restaurants, bars, and individuals bring their chili for judging in both the popular (attendees) and professional categories.

We have a variety of ticketing options this year so please check them all over before making your choice. We look forward to seeing you in Puerto Vallarta this coming February. We're back!

With the advent of an uptick in COVID cases (Omicron) lately, there's a lot of anxiety about the upcoming Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off, especially amongst ticket holders. Even some of our vendors are asking the same questions. Will the Cook-Off go on as scheduled? The quick answer is YES.

The biggest advantage we have is that Puerto Mágico is a Federal facility and not subject to the same regulations and restrictions that other places in the area are. We've been reassured by the Puerto Mágico administration that the event will go on and that they're excited to be hosting.

In addition, all indications are that, although cases are expected to continue to climb until the end of this month, they will likely peak at that time.

The Cause

The Jay Sadler Project (JSP) is a Jalisco based non-profit doing good works in the less-fortunate communities of the greater Bay of Banderas area. They provide necessary resources to improve various institutions in the Banderas Bay area and Puerto Vallarta. These include Day Care Centers, Senior Citizens Homes, and Schools for the Disabled, Public Schools in rural areas and other private charitable institutions. They also provide building maintenance, repairs and install playgrounds in the community. JSP works with government social agency’s (DIF) to identify those in need as well as with DIF and Navy League of Vallarta on Community Relations Projects.

In order to continue their work, funds are needed. The Chili Cook-Off (as well as other smaller events such as the Puerto Vallarta Poker Tour) help provide the necessary funds to continue their work.
