Government Confirms Mandatory Vehicle Verification in Vallarta

On April 1st, 2022, the mandatory vehicle verification process will begin in Puerto Vallarta, also called by the Jalisco state government as the "Responsible Verification Program." In a press conference held at the Marina Vallarta Marriott Hotel Patricia Martinez Barba, coordinator of Territorial Management of the state government, confirmed the launching of the verification program in Puerto Vallarta.

According to this new disposition, drivers owning vehicles will pay 500 pesos for the verification of each unit, while tourists will have to apply for a 30-day temporary pass to circulate with their automobile in the city.


Verificación Responsable (Verificación Responsable)

The argument of the Jalisco state government is that the measure seeks to improve air quality in the municipality, by forcing around 145 thousand cars to be kept in good condition. Thus, as of April 1st all private vehicles with license plates ending in 3 and 4 must make an appointment to be verified at the authorized store located in the vicinity of the Puerto Vallarta truck station.

Likewise, public transportation vehicles with license plates ending in 7 and 8, such as cabs and digital platforms that circulate permanently in the municipalities of the north coast region: Puerto Vallarta, Cabo Corrientes, San Sebastian del Oeste, Mascota, Talpa de Allende, Atenguillo, Guachinango and Mixtlan.
