An interactive sculpture on the boardwalk (Malecon) in Puerto Vallarta, Alejandro Colunga has created some strange surrealist chairs, very Dalí-style, but also magical, you'll love them if you do not find them creepy...

Alejandro Colunga is a very famous artist in Vallarta. His sculptures are famous around the world and adorn his adoptive city, the setting called "La Rotonda del Mar" The Roundabout of the Sea.

It is a collection of surrealist anthropomorphic figures and chairs with human arms and feet, decorated with stylized creatures and other sea elements. It was unveiled on December 30, 1996 and has always been a tourist & local favorite. You can not leave without a picture with the large-ear chair or one of the other "thrones."

The chairs invite you to sit and enjoy and touch them for a while, and portray yourself with them for posterity.

The artist loves that visitors interact with his work, he is convinced that human contact and the interaction gives the statues a patina and color they would not have if they were protected, a color that he calls "3D."

In his words: "The chairs are for you, I made them with a lot of love so that they could be used and abused, so that people could climb on them and so that their children would pee on them, something that might make them even more beautiful."

Certainly, you can see that the artist is a fun and cheerful guy, all the better, because the seats are never free of the human "plague."
