All current and prospective American Legion members are invited to attend the first, regularly scheduled monthly meeting of American Legion Post 12. General membership meetings will be held on the third Saturday of the month at Murphy's Irish Pub on the Malecón at 2:00 pm.
We've added several local veterans to the membership recently and we're looking forward to welcoming them to our new Post. Post 12 is committed to serving all veterans in the area and we're hoping you will become an active member. If you have questions about how the American Legion might be able to help you, please bring them on Saturday. We're here to help.
Post 12 Elects New Officers
Newly elected Post 12 Commander Jesse Rivera, along with past Commander Dennis Rike, manned the Legion table at the event.
At the most recent meeting elections were held to fill the important positions on the Executive Committee. Here are your current Post 12 Officers:
• Commander - Jesse Rivera
• 1st Vice Commander - Dennis Rike
• 2nd Vice Commander - Jim Sullivan
• 3rd Vice Commander - Leo Mendoza
• Sergeant-at-Arms - Jon Murphy
• Finance Officer - Ray Barnes
• Chaplain - Dennis Janson
The position of Judge Advocate is about to be filled but the VSO, and Historian positions remain vacant. If you are interested in serving in one of these positions please respond to this newsletter or voice your interest at the next Post meeting, this coming Saturday at 2:00 pm at Murphy's Irish Pub.
Post 12 Sponsors Charity Concert
Your American Legion Post 12 co-sponsored the Jay Sadler Project A.C. Charity Music Festival held this past weekend at El Rio BBQ Bar. The event raised funds for the Jalisco-based non-profit to help them continue servicing many of the under-served communities in the greater Banderas Bay area.
