Casa de la Paz will be an eighteen room care home primarily for low resource/vulnerable Mexican senior citizens, housing 36 residents. Five rooms for 10 residents will be occupied by ex-pats who will pay a higher rate to help defray costs.
The project will consist of 18 rooms with 36 beds, a chapel, 5 bed infirmary, administration offices, nursing station, common area, dining space, kitchen, laundry, bodegas as well as outdoor gardens with shaded areas and raised garden beds.
We plan on having support groups such as adult day care for those who need care while their family works, dietary classes and a general drop in center for the local people.
The home will be built in Valle de Banderas on a 2,500 square meter cession. This land has been donated by the Ejido and contains a 20 year renewable clause up to 99 years.
Presently the land is being prepared for the foundation and some services with the help of the Ejido who donated and delivered 210 truck loads of aggregate to strengthen the foundation. This work is expected to be completed soon.
Fundraising is ready to move on to the next stage - actually building the home, current estimated cost is $ 10,000,000 pesos. All future fundraising will go toward bricks and mortar, then on to furnishing the home.
In accordance in our Mission Statement we continue to visit our friends in the Colonias to give comfort and aid as best we can. We continue to donate equipment to those with mobility problems.
