Casa Clu was built and founded by a team of professionals who all specialize in child growth and development. Their team of psychologists, teachers, artists, athletes, professionals, and volunteers have designed a program of art and sports classes, workshops, field trips, and games to promote the healthy development of children all over San Ignacio. Their program creates new opportunities for growth and a better future for the kids of the community. Casa Clu is located in San Ignacio, a little village near Sayulita, in Nayarit.
La Casa Clu seeks to change the kids’ present so that they can enjoy a brighter future, and curb the chain of violence, aggression, and frustration that pervades much of the surrounding culture.
Casa Clu is an NGO that works only thanks to donors, the garden was lent to us two years ago, and now it is going to be ours, but for that we need your help!
In order to own the place, we have to pay administrative fees of 140,000 pesos.
But first, let us tell you about the garden...
The history of the garden began two years ago during the pandemic. Mexico decided, like many countries, to shut all the stores in town and everybody turned out unemployed, because the people of San Ignacio work mainly in the stores and restaurants of Sayulita. The Casa Clu’s team started to worry about the situation in San Ignacio and nobody knew how it would evolve. They realized that the first problem was going to be basic needs: food.
They decided to act and launch a food bank. For that, they reached out to other food banks and asked if they could donate food items for people of San Ignacio. The solidarity between people was huge and donated. This impulse of solidarity allowed the team of Casa Clu to garnish 300 food baskets per week for the family of San Ignacio for 7 months. They were filled with milk, flour, oil, soja, beans and rice. This was a huge help for the family but it was only for the time of the pandemic, they needed a more permanent solution to provide healthy food to the community. There was a huge land in front of Casa Clu, empty, and they decided to create a community garden.
The landowner kindly accepted to lent it for 2 years before selling it. But, once he saw what Casa Clu did with it and because he knew the “buena onda” of this NGO and decided to donate the field ! This garden was a therapy for everybody: the parents helped us with the logistics and the kids got to learn how to grow their own food. This garden is an educational tool, it is loved and maintained by all the volunteers in Casa Clu so we can’t lose it, it is too precious.
Thank you so much for every donation, you helped build a better future for all families in San Ignacio!
