Things Are Looking Up at Puerto Vallarta’s SPCA Sanctuary SPCA de PV | |
October 24, 2022 |
It's that most welcome time of year, with less rain and more friends arriving from the north every day. The weather is getting cooler, this season's hurricanes steered clear of us, the improvements to property at the shelter have held up nicely, and we've just broken ground to replace the structures lost in last year's storm.
Farmer's Market Is Back!
We are very excited to return this year to the Olas Altas Farmer's Market. If you are visiting town, permanent resident or local, don't forget to stop by and say hi! we will be there starting November 5th every Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
We have some fun new merchandise for you that make nice gifts for other pet lovers and and all the proceeds go to our shelter. We are happy to accept donations there: monetary, dog collars and leashes and toys, also towels and blankets are always needed at the sanctuary!
Our New Hydrotherapy Pool
Made possible by a generous donation from Michelle Jimenez, owner of D’z Route 66 Diner in Marina Vallarta, this much needed feature has been installed.
Canelita, a recent rescue who needed surgery to repair a poorly healed fracture, was the first dog to take advantage of it. Recovering well, hopefully she will be able to find her furrever home soon.
The hydrotherapy pool also provides vital exercise for Bruno and Sadie, permanently disabled sanctuary residents who were hit by cars and lost the use of their hind legs. A vet recommended Sadie be put to sleep, but since she was otherwise healthy we agreed to take her in. Bruno was found under a bridge, not moving and very thin. They have been with us for years now, and the hydrotherapy keeps them strong and engaged.
Onsite Veterinary Clinic
All equipped and ready to go, we are still working with the city on completing the permits so we can begin providing services.
Meanwhile, we held our first spay and neuter clinic on-site in August, treating 14 dogs and 15 cats.
An anonymous donor funded our second clinic on October 16th, 43 animals were treated. This important sterilization work is only possible because of the generosity of our donors.
Thank you, and if you're interested in contributing to these ongoing efforts please contact us.
Thank You to All Our Donors
A big heartfelt thank you to each of you who made a contribution last month. It's your generosity that keeps us going, funds our efforts, and provides care for many needy animals. If you can, please consider a donation today. D O N A T E
