The Director of the DIF of Puerto Vallarta, Roberto Ramos, celebrated and supported the agreement approved by the councilmen and councilwomen of Puerto Vallarta to raise the LGBTIQ+ flag in four public squares on May 17, in commemoration of the National Day against Homophobia, Lesbophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
DIF is a decentralized government organization that designs and develops multidisciplinary programs of public social assistance, to provide attention and service to people who are in vulnerable situations and with great needs, promoting the prosperity of the inhabitants of the municipality of Puerto Vallarta, with human quality and professionalism.
According to Ramos, this agreement represents an important step towards building a more inclusive, diverse and respectful of the human rights of all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity municipality.
He also stressed that the municipal agreement in question is fully within the current legal framework and is entirely timely and relevant, as it seeks to institutionalize a symbolic act that had already been carried out in previous years in the municipality, with the novelty that now it will be held in four squares simultaneously.
Ramos emphasized the importance of recognizing sexual and gender diversity in our society, not only as an ethical and moral duty, but also as a legal obligation. According to Roberto, the approval of this municipal agreement demonstrates that Puerto Vallarta is committed to the construction of a more just, egalitarian and respectful society for all people.
Furthermore, Ramos addressed the community as a person who lives and fights for his rights, as a visible gay man who wants to vindicate the importance of being true to himself and his identity at all times.
