JBAR advocates for humane and healthy practices for animals in the Jaltemba area of Mexico by promoting health, education, sterilization, adoptions, foster care and positive relationships with animals and their owners.
From December 2003 to March 2023, JBAR offered 39 clinics and spayed or neutered 13,639 animals in the Jaltemba Bay Area. From January to March a total of 97 treatments were administered for parvo, parasites, gastrointestinal and respiratory issues, broken legs and include services such as emergency caesarian, x-rays, blood tests, ultrasounds and euthanasia.
Many thanks to our amazing Mexican and Canadian veterinary teams. This includes Dr. Poly Lopez, Dr. Jesus Pacheco, Dr. Andrea Garcia and vet techs Lorena Ureña and Concepción Ureña from Pets for Life. Our Canadian team consists of Dr. Chris Collis along with vet techs Kim Morrison, Danielle Parsons and Jaime Millward.
A very special thanks to the over 70 dedicated volunteers who worked long hours over the four day clinic to accomplish so many sterilizations.
A total of 501 animals were sterilized during our recent event including 482 animals at the 4 day clinic and another 19 overflow animals with Dr. Aldo.
In terms of costs, The Pets for Life veterinary team charges 380 pesos ($28.20 CAD) per animal to sterilize. As a result, the total cost of the 4 day was $183,160 pesos ($13,738.91 CD).
To continue offering these valuable clinics, we need your donations. Note that all donations only pay for our free clinics, ongoing sterilizations and vet expenses for animal care. Admin and office expenses are not taken from donations and JBAR volunteers are never paid but generously donate their time to help the animals.
