We are almost there, but we’ll need your help to finish rebuilding the shelter and adding new kennels.

It’s been 18 months since Hurricane Nora destroyed over half of our structure and washed away much of our land. In that time, we’ve remained open to care for our permanent shelter dog family, held frequent spay and neuter clinics, and continue to rescue and rehabilitate dogs when we are able.

Once the state government rebuilt the riverbank in 2022, we began planning the reconstruction.

Staff Quarters

The physical structures of the staff quarters and the new kennels have been built, but there is still much to do before they are opened. Your continued financial support will help us finish and insure that we have sufficient funds to fully reopen and greatly increase the number of animals we can rescue.

With rebuilt housing we will hire more workers and care for more animals, moving abused and neglected animals from the cruelty of the streets to the safety of our Sanctuary.

Kennels

With rebuilt housing we will hire more workers and care for more animals, moving abused and neglected animals from the cruelty of the streets to the safety of our kennels.

Here is a partial list of the remaining effort and the costs associated with these projects in USD:

  • Purchase and install the exterior doors and windows for the staff housing - $3,000
  • Complete the fencing for the 10 new kennels - each $900
  • Complete the staff bathroom and kitchen. Purchase and install sink, toilet, shower and tiles - $1,200
  • Sealing painting the staffing housing and kennels - $500
  • Furnish 3 bedrooms with a bed, nightstand and dresser - each $500
  • Re-install the solar panels that were saved after the storm - $2,000
  • Purchase elevated sleeping platforms and dog beds for one or all the new kennels. Need at least ten - each $150
  • Dedicate one of the ten new kennels to your family, a favorite animal lover or beloved pet. Appropriate signage will memorialize your gift - $3,600

We appreciate your generosity and we promise to continue to do all we can to help the animals of Puerto Vallarta and continue Janice Chatterton’s incredible legacy. Donate Here
