In 2017, Pastor Joel Lucano Baez and wife Vanessa Torres founded and own the Iglesias Fuente de Olivos la Villa (Olive Mountain Church) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The mission of this church has been: To improve the quality of life for needy people of all ages and position them for success in life - help people become contributors to society rather than victims of or dependent on the society.

Along with the regular Christian services, an educational program was established (and is ongoing), focused on dysfunctional families, with a curriculum of teaching:

  • Spanish and English languages
  • Science and mathematics
  • Bible classes & worship
  • Art
  • First aid and medical knowledge
  • Personal hygiene and sanitation
  • Music
  • Ethics, etiquette, and more

Students are graded for their accomplishments, and advance to higher level classes commensurate with their achievements.

These teachings are provided in 3 physical classrooms within the property owned by the church. Weekly classes ae conducted by 7 volunteer teachers, with an average of 12 students (4- to 50-years-old) per congested classroom (32ft x 32ft in size). Currently, 90+ minors and adults are enrolled in these classes. Along with classes, the church provides free breakfast to all.

There is a pent-up demand of approximately 130 students. To address this need and help more dysfunctional families and children out of poverty and reduce congestion, the church would like to add 4 more classrooms and associated infrastructure (computers, kitchen, lavatory, first aid station, and storage) to the existing church structure. It is estimated that these additions will cost approximately $9,000 USD (the church will provide the space.)

To fund this endeavor, a GiveSendGo fund-raising project is being initiated, and the church is asking for your donations (in monetary and material items such as computers, furniture, cars, books, appliances, etc.) Please go to GiveSendGo.com/MtOilveChurchPV to learn more about the church, the programs offered, and to donate.
