The DIF System of Puerto Vallarta, a welfare institution, is committed to promoting the rights of indigenous women and their families.
During the opening of the Conversatory "Indigenous Women's Rights" as part of the International Day of Indigenous Women, the President of the organization, María de Jesús López Delgado, emphasized the importance of valuing and sheltering indigenous women without distinction. The event was attended by academic personnel from various institutions, including the National College of Technical Professional Education, the National School of Education, and the Centro Universitario de la Costa of the University of Guadalajara.
During the event, the Director of the DIF System, Roberto Ramos Vázquez, highlighted the discrimination faced by women in general, as well as the additional discrimination faced by indigenous women. They are discriminated against not only for being women but also for their way of dressing and speaking. This discrimination is a significant challenge, and the DIF System aims to address it by promoting equality and respect for indigenous women's rights.
The President of the organization, María de Jesús López Delgado, urged reflection and recognition of indigenous women and reaffirmed the DIF System's commitment to uniting hearts with equality and respect. The DIF System believes that all individuals should be valued and sheltered without distinction, regardless of their background or identity.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the obstacles faced by indigenous women and to promote their rights within society. It highlighted the importance of addressing discrimination and ensuring that indigenous women are treated with fairness and respect. The DIF System, along with various academic institutions, is working towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society by supporting indigenous women's rights.
The DIF System's efforts align with the larger movement to empower indigenous women and promote gender equality in Mexico and around the world. By recognizing and addressing the specific challenges faced by indigenous women, progress can be made towards a more just and inclusive society for all.
