We Did It Again!
Whew, it's taken a week to recover, but recover I have.
As hard as it is to believe, this year's festival topped last year's by a long shot.
Even better, this time around being an "old hat" with one year under my belt, I was able to relax and enjoy the party.
The food, the entertainment and the participants (that means you) could not have been better.
Even the weather cooperated with not-too-hot sunshine, clear skies and a gentle breeze.
As in years past the profits from the event will be split evenly amongst the participating charities of which this year there were 22.
The difference this year is that we have already deposited 15,000 pesos from our sale of 50 tickets. We also received 600 pesos in cash donations from a few generous friends.
The remaining amount is as of yet unknown, but most likely in June or July we'll have another check.
This money is so important to the work we do, in the last month alone we have paid for scabies treatment for an entire family, we helped a 6 year old boy who needed medicine for a severe case of impetigo and just a couple of days ago purchased inhaler medication for a 5 year old with asthma.
We couldn't do it without your help. And I couldn't do it without the help of several amazing volunteers. To my husband Randy, Chris and Cindy Bouchard, Alberto Alvarez Franco, Philo Hayward, Pat and Tom Lobaugh, Joan Gil and Karen Cope; thank you, thank you, thank you!
If you would like to get involved with Amigos de La Cruz, we welcome you to our Business Meeting on May 21 at 7:00 pm, at Restaurante Jardín del Pulpo (Octopus Garden), Coral #66 in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. For more information, please email us at jenniferbrinckmann@gmail.com.
A few of our volunteers at the PuRR booth |

This year was the 9th annual festival sponsored by the American Consulate and was a HUGE hit!
The very best restaurants in town gave out samples of amazing food & drink and the entertainment on stage was non-stop.
Mikki Prost as Patsy Cline really WOWED the crowd.
It was all topped off by a spectacular fireworks display……all for only 300 pesos!
Muchas Gracias to everyone who bought their tickets from us and to everyone who took time to stop by our booth and leave a special donation.
It was a lot for work for the PuRR volunteers who helped with set up, unloading of restaurant trucks, setting up our booth, putting wristbands on attendees and finally helping take the whole thing down and clean up at the end of the night. WHEW! But it was all worth it!
The proceeds (shared by all 22 local charities involved) are earmarked for food, vaccines and medicines which are essential at the shelter.
