Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.
Laser Radial Womens Championship - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
Now in its sixteenth year, the Laser World Championship is set to take place for the second place in Mexican waters, hosted this year by the Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit.
The world championship is divided into four stages: the Laser Radial Women’s World Championship will occur from April 12-20, with the Laser Masters World Championship – Radial taking place from the 22nd to the 30th. The Laser Standard Men’s World Championship runs from May 10-18 and the Laser Masters World Championship – Standard will close out the event from May 20-28.
This competition is the most important event in the Vallarta-Nayarit FMV CUP 2016: besides winning the title of best in the world, the participants are also looking to win tickets to the 2016 Olympic Games that will be celebrated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Mezcal Week in Riviera Nayarit - Monday through Sunday
Thirteen restaurants around Banderas Bay in Riviera Nayarit would like to introduce you to this antique and traditional Mexican beverage by launching the “Semana del Mezcal” (Mezcal Week) from April 15th to 27th.
Each day a different restaurant offers a 3 course menu including a Mezcal matching every course.
Ceviche & Aguachile Market at the Pier - Tuesday
Every Tuesday there is a Ceviche and Aguachile Market taking place on Francisca Rodriguez, the walk-street leading to the Los Muertos Pier in Old Town Puerto Vallarta.
Come and enjoy a variety of ceviche and aguachiles prepared by neighbors, merchants and restaurateurs of the region in this culinary and cultural weekly event.
Enjoy an amazing variety of culinary delights such as coconut shrimp ceviche and return each Tuesday throughout the season between 12:00 and 4:00 pm to sample all the delicious selections while being entertained by live music.
Downtown Vallarta Art Walk - Wednesday
Puerto Vallarta has established itself as a vibrant center of art creation, exhibition and promotion. An important contribution to the city´s art scene is Puerto Vallarta´s ArtWalk which this year will be held every Wednesday, 6:00 - 10:00 pm through May 25, 2016.
The participating galleries in Centro Historico offer works by important national and international artists. Remarkable paintings, exceptional sculptures, fine ceramics, blown glass and other types of noteworthly art are offered.
Karaoke Party at The Encore - Thursday
Join us every Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the Encore Bar and Lounge where we will be welcoming locals and visitors.
This is the biggest party of the summer in Puerto Vallarta with the Karaoke beginning at 7:00.
Spend your Thursdays of the summer months in air conditioned comfort at the Encore with Carol Smith, Alfonso Lopez and guest hosts each week and watch your friends sing a song as you cheer them on.

End-of-Season Party at Vista Paraiso Ranch - Saturday
This month, I want to bring your attention to a wonderful party that is about to happen on the 23rd of April! The event is the fabulous End-of-Season Party and the venue is my beloved Vista Paraiso Ranch in Higuera Blanca.
The event itself brings me to another great passion…food! In true cowboy or “Ranchero” style, we’re having a BAR B Q! Not just any Bar B Q, either. We are putting ourselves in the expert hands of a local resident and self-proclaimed pit master with the very non-Mexican name of “Hal”!
As if this wasn’t enough, direct from Australia via Dallas, is an old Punta Mita friend, Andrew Ormsby. I’ll be helping with food tastings, drink tastings and maybe a few ticket sales.
As if all this were not enough, the real cowboys are working hard to put their beautiful, four-legged friends through their paces to provide a traditional Mexican Charro show. This will showcase incredible dancing horses, the ever-popular Mexican Banda music – Lisa’s favourite – the incredibly beautiful, fearless and amazingly talented escaramuzas and, to round it all off, a great DJ!
Festival of the Patron Saint of La Cruz Carnival Parade - Sunday
The annual Festival of the Patron Saint of La Cruz will commence Sunday evening April 24, 2016 with the Opening Celebration Parade. The parade begins at 6:30 and winds through the village, ending at the plaza around 7:00 pm.
Amigos de La Cruz has again been invited to participate and we’ll be there ready to march!
You can even join the parade as it winds its way from the baseball field (on the colonial side), then across the highway, up and down the cobble streets, and ending in the village square. You can park at the Marina, lots of room there, and that is where the parade ends too.
Parade start time is about 6:30 pm. Feel free to walk in the parade if you wish, or better yet, decorate a float or vehicle and just join in!!!!
The cost is free but you could bring some candies for the kiddies.
