| Kids’ Summer School Continues at La Cruz Kindergarten John Whitten - Amigos de La Cruz | |

Last week we had our first week of summer camp. Kids from all over are enjoying the fun activities we have for them.
We have special ecology classes on Wednesdays with local Cruz volunteer Cassandra Lopez and her friends. This is a great way to keep the kids active during their time away from school.
We have children living on boats in the Marina and other expat homeschooled children that are taking part in the summer camp.
What a great way for the kids to meet local children; language differences don't seem to be a barrier.
• Summer Camp - August 8-19
• Ages 6 to 12
• Breakfast, Dance, Music, Swimming, Art, Kite Making and more
• Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 2 PM daily
• Located at Kindergarten on Langosta across the street from the new Kids Club

There is a significant amount of repairs on the new Kids Club to be done: Electrical and water in most of the building is not working.
• 220V cable cut - we don't even know if it's live.
• Roof leaks, cracked beams, stairs without a guard rail, steps to courtyard that are disintegrating, a field that is full of construction debris, but we took the leap of faith to make it habitable by the start of school in September.
Initial estimates are $8,000 USD to do the initial work to make it habitable. Some of the restaurant equipment has been sold or promised, and the field cleaned in partial trade for equipment (deep fryer and restaurant BBQ/parrilla).
• 15,000 pesos to clean the field of construction debris and tree limbs
• 25,000 pesos to add gravel and astroturf (cement floor is perhaps a later addition)
• 58,500 pesos to re-do the roofs and seal
• 17,900 pesos to rewire electrical and water connections
• 38,750 pesos to scrape walls, restucco and paint
As difficult as it is to ask, we could use donations - we offer USA, Canadian and Mexican tax credits.
American - BBCINC.org
Canadian - CCSHF.ca
