| Amigos de La Cruz Wraps Up Another Summer Camp for Kids John Whitten - Amigos de La Cruz | |

We had another week of summer camp for the kids of La Cruz. More than 40 local children enjoyed more activities to keep them occupied during their vacation. The week culminated with an amazing show that included traditional dancing, singing and pinatas. Children, parents and visitors alike enjoyed this wonderful presentation.
It was wonderful this year to welcome several international students from the United States. It is a great experience for all the students to share and enjoy the different cultures and experiment with learning Spanish and English. We also reached a number of children new to the Amigos de La Cruz Summer Camp and plan to attend the Kids Club this year.
The camp was hosted by the local Kindergarten this year conveniently located across the street from our new Kids Club location at 27 Calle Langosta. Over the last few weeks there has been a considerable amount of work done at the new site with repairs and cleaning to prepare for the Kids Club program starting in early September.
We are also busy working on reimagining our programs to include a regional museum and cultural center that will expand our activities and scope to include all ages, residents and visitors. Stay tuned to the Amigos de La Cruz Facebook page for further updates on the new programs, photos and inscriptions for the Kids Club.

There is a significant amount of repairs on the new Kids Club to be done: Electrical and water in most of the building is not working.
Initial estimates are $8,000 USD to do the initial work to make it habitable. Some of the restaurant equipment has been sold or promised, and the field cleaned in partial trade for equipment (deep fryer and restaurant BBQ/parrilla).
• 15,000 pesos to clean the field of construction debris and tree limbs
• 25,000 pesos to add gravel and astroturf (cement floor is perhaps a later addition)
• 58,500 pesos to re-do the roofs and seal
• 17,900 pesos to rewire electrical and water connections
• 38,750 pesos to scrape walls, restucco and paint
As difficult as it is to ask, we could use donations - we offer USA, Canadian and Mexican tax credits.
